Valeda Scribner, Senior Carbon Advisor at ENGIE Impact, worked for 15 years as an aerospace engineer and program manager building and testing satellites before transitioning her career to address climate change. Through the Western Colorado University’s Master in Environmental Management program, she discovered the critical role of greenhouse gas (GHG) assessment in managing environmental impact and contributed to emissions inventories and climate action plans for Eagle County, CO, and Park City, UT. Valeda also developed an online tool that estimated emissions for every Colorado municipality using public data.
In her current role, Valeda uses her six years of sustainability experience to guide Fortune 500 companies through complex GHG inventory quantification and reporting. She is well-versed in frameworks such as the GHG Corporate Protocol, the CDP Climate Change questionnaire, and the Science-Based Targets initiative, tailoring inventories to deliver actionable insights for operations and strategy. Her work spans full-scope inventories, customer Scope 3 methodologies, science-based target development, climate risk assessments, and decarbonization roadmaps, as well as internal tools and marketing resources.
Valeda serves as the town councillor in Crested Butte, CO, focused on housing and environmental impact, and she sits on local housing and transportation boards. Outside of work, you’ll find her backcountry skiing, mountain biking, or DJing for her local public radio station.
