October 8, 2021

With 485 buildings, Ohio State University is one of the largest university campuses in the United States and has long been dedicated to excellence. With a view to modernizing energy supply and sustainability, the University's board of directors chose ENGIE and its partner Axium Infrastructure.

Under a 50-year contract, ENGIE and Axium are supporting the University in optimizing its energy consumption, reducing its environmental footprint and building a new innovation and research center.

Challenge

To establish OSU as an international leader in energy and sustainability by limiting its environmental footprint, creating long-term relationships with partners in the energy sector, and strengthening its reputation as a national research university and a top destination for prospective students.

Solution

To ensure the sustainable management of energy at Ohio State University, ENGIE implements three of its programs:

  1. Increase Efficiency: Improve the performance of buildings and existing assets such as the cooling and heating network, ENGIE contributes to better energy efficiency.
  2. Optimize Energy: ENGIE advises the University on its energy consumption and implements digital tools to manage the operation and optimization of energy supply, production and distribution (steam, refrigeration, gas and electricity). ENGIE and Axium are also ready to invest in on-site energy installations, such as solar panels, which will contribute to this overall optimization.
  3. Elevate Places: ENGIE uses technologies such as Siradel 3D modeling to improve the on-campus experience for students, teachers and visitors.
